Why was Amelia called Amelia?

Pictured is the old Amelia Tollhouse taken in 1908, located then on Ohio Pike just west of the Central Baptist Church on Main Street. It was subsequently purchased by John Pommert for $17.00 and moved across the road. Today it is remodeled and located at 94 West Main Street.

Thanks to the  Clermont County Historical Society for these details, and for their continued dedication to a Clermont residents' value of:

"Preserving and promoting our historic and natural assets."

Our historical society's mission: "We strive to preserve and interpret Clermont County, Ohio’s history. CCHS has the unique role of being the keeper of the County’s memories and heritage. Founded in 1958, we have been active for over 60 years."
